I just took delivery of an 08 Oulander and love it !!! The Rockford system is pretty good for a factory system. I have been recording alot of CD''s onto the hard drive and want to know if there is a way to see how much memory(of the 30 gig) has been used or is left. I tried doing a forum search but did not find an answer. Any help would be great. The forum has provided a lot of GREAT info. I am about to embark on installing a front/rear laser jamming system(using the wireless method for the front sensors) and will let everyone know how it goes. Thanks for all your help and a great forum!!!!

Although I can''t answer your question, you should know that the site is in a million pieces right now. Apostrophies are screwed up, and the search button is broken.

Sorry, we suck right now.

I think if I remember correctly, about 8 GB is available for ripping CD''s onto the harddrive. I think about 8-12 CD''s fit for me, as it uses its own format for ripping the CD''s and it may or may not be as efficient as other formats.

Definitely more than 8-12 cds... 5.4GB is total space reserved for the music server. Encoding appears to be just as efficient, if not more, than your typical mp3. 22 ripped CDs on my music server uses a total of 1.4GB, yielding an average of about 65MB per CD. That is on the high side, as two of my CDs uses 160MB and 124MB. Here''s the raw data from my hard drive:

50M data09
39M data0d
45M data0e
44M data0f
51M data11
91M data12
56M data14
70M data18
72M data19
57M data1b
43M data1c
160M data1d
97M data22
49M data23
124M data26
89M data29
38M data2e
52M data30
42M data33
45M data34
61M data35
56M data3b

Sorry, we haven''t yet reverse engineered the data structures to know which album is which in the above list, but it should give you a good idea.

Based on the data from brian360 it looks like somewhere around 90 CD''s should fit. Thanks for the info, you would think there would be an easy way for the user to check total usage or atleast a % of space used. Thanks again...

hmm.. I guess something is up with mine, because it says it is full after about 8-12.

Are you guys ripping store bought CD''s, burned CD''s as mp3 files, or anything else? I need to find out how to get more tracks onto my harddrive!!

how much 8gb can hold in terms of music is a toss up. if you have cds that have anywhere from 5- 10 mins of music per song, you will not get much on 8 gb. now if  you had cds that have  like 3 min per songs, the number of cds will  go up......

Pop out the crappy 30gb hard drive. Spend the money and throw a 120gb drive in. I did this with mine recently and will be posting detailed directions on the cloning process. The unlock details can already be found on the forums.

Awesome. I think you''re the first one to report that a replacement & upgraded hard drive worked. I assume you simply resized the music-server''s partition to fill up the new disk?
