the when on Park & nuetral it idles from 1000rpm-3000rpm. when on Drive it stays on 1500rpms . if you take your foot off the gas it seems like its going to stall. what could it be ?

Could be a lot of things, first what year and model car do u have and do u have a check engine light on?

its a 98 galant ls. the check engine light goes on for 2minutes then goes off

Does it stay on when its running? Sounds like a bad iac motor.

no when you drive the car it goes on 4 2 minutes then goes off. until you turn the car off and turn it back on.

Well do to autozone and have them scan it and see if there are any codes (will be free).
