synthetic 5-30 is the best one you could use. for low budget, stick w/ regular 5-30. but cant beat synthetic, its the best so far.

Some really good oils.

Castrol 0W30 Full Synthetic (no other weights are good)
Mobil 1 EP 5W30 or 10W30
Red Line 5W30 or 10W30

An awesome, cheap, non-synthetic. Chevron Supreme.

but if u switch to synthetic get a semi blend first cuz you need to get all the old oil out. put mix in or full synthetic that is a cheap price then drive for 500 miles then drain oil and put fresh full synthetic in

I have a 2004 Endeavor AWD. I just put in Mobil 1 10W-30 extended mileage oil and a Mobil 1 filter, hoping to go with annual oil changes. I've usually gone 6,000 miles between changes. I used Castrol Syntec 5W-50 last oil change, before that was whatever the dealer used (non-synthetic).

I've gone from non-synthetic ("dino") oil to synthetic and back without any flushes on my Chev Lumina APV mini-van and have 172,000 miles in 12 years (currently back to synthetic oil), so an extensive flush is not required (but may be beneficial).

On my (wife's) 2004 Endeavor I've changed the oil filter at six months on my test of Mobil 1 Extended Life oil. The oil seems to be functioning okay and I've seen worse looking oil on a dipstick. But my wife has put on 10K miles already and the oil is recommended for 15K miles, so might be changing the oil in January. Brrrr.
