just got an 01 eclipse. i want to install my aftermarket stereo. cd player, amp, subs. my sub box is too big for the minature trunk (its a spyder) and what the hell do i do with the display unit from the factory cd player. leave it there blank or take it out and put something cool there. im thinking about building my own box for my two 12"ers. any ideas for a box? i was just going to wing it and come up with some sort of contraption. thanks guys, im young and learning.

The Spyders don''t give you much to work with, thats for sure. I''ve done a couple recently, and both were a bit of a trick. If you want 2 12''s, building a box is pretty much your only option, and it''ll be tight, and may involve removing the convertible top as well as a few panels. I would probably recomend going with a single sub though, simply because it will allow you to keep a little storage space and will be much easier to work around when it comes to installation time.

you do lose your display when you install an aftermarket head unit. to my knowledge there is no way, at least that i''ve heard of, to keep the display funcional as it''s run through the factory radio.
