Hello All,

My car mechanic asked me to change the following in my Mitsubishi 2000 Galant ES. It has 90K mileage on it.

1. Alternator Drive Belt
2. Power Steering Pump Drive Belt
3. Vale cover gasket
4. Remove and Replace Transmission Pan
5. Remove and Replace Spark Plugs

Can anybody tell me which one is really needed as I am running short of funds now and I may not be able to perform all the replacements at the same time. I know that in Maintenance Centers, they perform the comparison based on standards for a new car, so which ones out of these are critical and if I don''t do I can run into problems on the road.

Thanks in advance.

Subha

I would do the plugs/wires and trans flush first, dont replace the v/c gasket unless its leaking and if the belts arn''t worn or crack dont worry abt it.

You could probably do most of the work yourself to save some $$$.

I haven''t changed those, but how can I do most of the work myself? What do I need to buy.

Thanks,
Subha

I recomend doing that first. If you don''t, you will be paying for a new motor.

Mitsubishi recomends changing them at 60k, but designs the belt to last 100k. You are stepping on thin ice not doing it, and a whole heap of **** is under it.

Yes, the important things is timing belt, i have replaced my timing belt at 57,000 (my mechanic recommended it).

you can not do it by yourself, need some mechanic tools to open your engine and replace the timing belt.
