3000gts are moderately quick stock, but nothing special, expecially for having 320hp. They were in the same qroup as 300zx, supra and rx7 and was the slowest of the 4 due to weight. they run around 14.2ish stock at best. Dont get me wrong I like the car but its better as a quick daily driver than a drag car unless you have tons of money to invest. As for beating corvettes with an eclipse, that still takes a bit of money. corvettes keep getting faster and they run 12's stock. Also, to beat a corvette you most definitely need to lanch perfect because on the highway the eclipse will get murdered unless its in the 500whp range.

I know the corvette beating goal is going to be kinda hard to reach, but you have to admit its pretty good the I got my 3000 to beat a mildly tuned STi. Also Im pretty sure the 3000GT is faster than the 300ZX in the quarter mile(though not much) . 13.5 quarter mile compared to 13.9. Acceleration is about the same(5.5)

And for the 3000GT the 1st gen 3000 ran a 14.2 he second gens were in the 13.3-13.5 range. as far as beating an STi he had to be a bad driver if you were running 12s and won, unless you had a ton of mods. a 2005 EVO which is slower than the STi in a 1/4 will run 12s all day with only a Turbo back exhaust. and ith other bolt ons and cams the are eaily in the 11s.

I like 3000s but I wouldnt want to own one mainly because I have an EVO which is like 700lbs lighter with nearly the same power and a much better built motor than the 6G72.

What do you mean? STi's ****in suck on the top end. I didnt beat it off the line but I had better top end power with my T3/T4's. It was a pretty long distance race so 1/4 he took me but after that I pulled ahead and scored a win.

So you had to be going like over 100 to pull out top end as you should in a v6 compaired to basicly a v4(I know its not a V but in easy turms)

If you are going to race on the streets Why the Hell do you have to go even over 100MPH that is just stupid. I know my cars tops out at 160MPH I would never even try. if someone messes with me ill race but back off at about 90 or so. going faster on a public road is just a ricer thing to do its friggin stupid. a stock VR4 would start pulling me up high as well.

I hate STi's as well they are no very well built they have weak ringland and crack with only a few bolt on modds. the car has a 6 speed which really sucks very short gears. IMO id take a 3000GT or EVO over one any day.

The 4g63 is one of the stoutest motors to come from Japan. To make a super fast eclipse, buy a 4g64 block and build it up from the inside out and then drop a big T3/T4 turbo with an MBC and a turbo timer. It will run 10s after it is tuned and be sure to get it maped as well as balance the crank to be sure everything runs perfect. It would be expensive too. Although, dropping a 6g72tt into an eclipse is a real bad idea, but it would take months of fabricating and hacking away at the front end of the car. It can be done, it just takes tons of time and money. Besides, you have the only eclipse w/ a 6g72tt strapped under the hood in the world. I thought about doing that as a project car a year ago. So if you decide to do it, best of luck and let me know how it goes.

dude stick with your eclipse i had a Stealth TT which has the same motor of course as the 3000 and it was sooo hard to find parts for. Also, the upgrades cost twice as much and the weight issue is non fixable. I just got my gst and i like it so much better.
