I was on a really rough backroad and I think a rough edged pot hole may have done this

Now that was two weeks ago and the tire pressure has not diminished

I think it is just a very light cut but is there anything that can be applied to strengthen the area?

I know sidewalls are nearly impossible to fix if the cut is the entire way through

you need to replace that tyre asap before you get a blow out, buy you may need to replace both tyres on the same axle otherwise you may overheat the 4wd system (depending on mileage) see hand book for details

I would pull the tire and take a look....

If the inside looks ok ... no mark or anything,,, I would say that it is ok...

If you start to get a loss of air I would replace the tire....

I have had something similar in the past, I took it to a tire dealer, and after he looked at it, told me not to worry about.  I figured that it would have been in his interest to sell me a new tire.  He seems to be most concerned about the shape of the sidewall, rather than the surface.  If the Structure of the sidewall is damage you should see a bump or deformation.

Your tire damage might be different, than what I had.

Looks superficial to me.   Nothing to worry about.   Any structural damage to the tire would result in a "blistering" or "pimpling" of the tire in that area.   Keep an eye on it and see if it eventually developes into one- otherwise, you''''ll be fine.   If there is a blister or raised area at the point of impact- replace it now.   Its difficult to tell with just pictures.
