Folks,

A bud of mine is in the midst of considering purchasing a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT V6 from
a dealer. It's a bump car with 31,000 miles going
for $10,000 CDN (8200 USD). Dealer will be putting in auction if not sold (they are
concerned that it is a repair vehicle and selling "as is"). It needs tires
($1000). Apparently front end accident damage of $5000 (fixed via some
previous owner). Can't tell any structural damage from my visual inspection.
Had it out last night for spin. Seems to work ok aside from some steering
wheel vibration - but ya never know what the future may hold.

I know Mitsubishi took some serious flak for not revealing manufacturing
defects in their products. Any info on the 'net seems more + then - on this
model year.

What's your opinion?

Thanks.
Grassy

I partially agree that u DO get what you pay for, but on the other hand if he is looking into buying this car b/c he wants an eclipse or if wants a car to be able to work on and not just pick up and drive those are different senerios. My opinion is that if he wants it he can find a better deal for a better car. My '01 Spyder with 28,000 mls on it was $13,000. Dont jump into a sale to quickly its on auction for a reason.
