Ok Im narrowing down my list for my turbo and head swap on my 4g64 and one of the last things I need is to change the whole top half (above the block) gaskets. thats the head, throttle body etc. Also need the turbo gaskets like 02housing, Downpipe, blah blah etc.

I have never changed gaskets I wanna know what I need and how to do it right. seems pretty easy but I want some hints and tips.

Also wheres a good place to get gaskets cheap that won''t burn out on me quick?

dont cheap out on gaskets first of all... mainly because you dont want to have to pull it all apart and redo ''em... to replace them be sure you clean the old gasket off extremely well... first use a gasket remover tool to get the majority of it off, then after that i always use a wire wheel or brush attached to a drill to remove any of the stubborn bits of gasket remaining... this ensures you will have an awesome seal with the new ones... get some liquid gasket maker and use that on both sides of the gasket to ensure an even better seal, and you''re all set

what kind of head are you swappin?

a sohc for a dohc?

im assuming he is going to be swapping to a 4g63 DOHC but i would get all the gaskets from a dealership if it was me. Also a good place for turbo gaskets is

has anyone ever done that before? years ago i worked at a dealer that installed a turbo on a 2.4 galant but weidn''t swap heads

it is a very common head swap for people to do on those cars

Dont use a wire wheel or anything silimar on the head surface that meet the block. Use a plastic scraper to clean the head off.
