I think I can clear up a few things.

1) You get what car you can afford, and what car you like best....with all that said, there are a couple small differences in the two mechanically.

2) Those 1g motors you are refering to, are actually called ''6 bolt'' motors, and are found in the 1gs from 1990-1992.5 (don''t ask lol). The ''bolt'' just means how many bolts hold on the flywheel.

3) Why? Because of an issue called crankwalk in the ''7 bolt'' motors found in 1992.5 + all the way to 1999 (turbo models only). Crankwalk is basically thrust bearing failure, causing total destruction. There are ways to prolong the life of a 7bolt, like change your oil when you should, only use synthetic, never hold the clutch in when starting the car, or at red lights.... these little things. There are 7 bolts that have made it past 200k, and some that haven''t made it past 100k. Who knows why?

The majority of pepole that have done the 6 bolt swap is either because they have experianced crankwalk, or just don''t want to deal with it when it happens. Why replace something that isn''t broken......I never understood that.

If you want to find the best deal on one of these, then I say hit up www.dsmtrader.com

If you want to know more about crankwalk, there are many articles on google to answer any questions you may have.

Any other q''s?

my personal preference has always been for the 2g''s... their design is more streamlined and modern as compared to the jagged edges of the oldschool 1g, i''ve never really been for that. but like sebba said it''s all personal preference and what you can afford. I would definitely go for the 2g gsx..

Also, if you want to just buy a 1g without engine and transmission for like 300 bucks.... and then buy a race motor and tranny.... you could have yourself one hell of a fast car for not too much....
