Hi:  I noticed when I shut off the my 2007 xls, my steering wheel doesn''t lock anymore.  And the "lock steering wheel" symbol comes up on the dash display.  The problem is now I cannot utilize the door lock button the the outside door handle.  The car will just give me a couple of beeps.  I need to use the remote keyfob to lock the car.  Does anyone know if there is something I can be doing wrong?  I am turning the knob all the way to lock position as I normally have done for the last year.   BTW how much is it to replace the keyfob if you lose it?  Thanks.

It could be the batteries in the fob. I forget what the manual says on the average length of time.... the FAST key that is...  But since you are still able to use the fob buttons to lock the car, that confuses me. Hate to say it but, go to the dealer if it keeps acting up.

Ok..stupid me had the second FAST keyfob in a bag in the backseat. No wonder why the thing kept on beeping when I pressed the lock button on the door handle.  Weird thing is now the steering wheel locks normally.  BTW I went to the dealership to check pricing on a new keyfob..They said $240!   Better not loose it.

Been there!  Does $240 include the reprogramming?

Didn''t ask about the programming part.. I would imagine the stealership would charge you some labor as well.   I wonder if anyone can get hold of the work instructions to learn new remotes.  I see some outlander remotes on ebay....

If you have a USA model, the instructions to reprogram the FAST key and the keyless buttons should be described in your manual.  It requires you to have both of your existing keys handy.
