I''m experiencing a noise that is ONLY noticeable when in 4wd.  You can hear the noise (rattle) when I’m in a complete stop and press the gas around 3,000 RPM , I hear the rattle. Any ideas what this can be or has anyone experience this sound before?  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I actually just heard that same noise, during the same experience with my ''07. Ive had mine for over a year now and had never heard or noticed it before. I have kept mine in 4wd Auto for 8-10 months straight now and never noticed it. When from a dead stop, under average to high acceleration a slight rattle happens at about 10mph, sounds like it comes from under the console or the front passenger seat... When I turn to 2wd mode the "slight rattle" does not happen at all. I have no idea what it is except it is obviously tied in with the 4wd mode... ???

By the way, remember that the AWD drivetrain system has a 10 year warranty with Mitsubishi in case something goes wrong with it. You could call your sales rep. and ask if they will have a look at it under the 10 year warranty (so that you do not have to pay for labour charges)

I too had this noise.  When accelerating, going over bumps, or at a stop, I would hear a slight rattle that was coming from the passenger side seating area.  I found it to be the black plastic covering for the amplifier.  I noticed that the noise would disappear if you placed your hand on top of it, while tapping the floor with your other hand.  I put sand in a ziplock bag, and placed it in another small black bag, and sticky tacked it on top of the amplifier cover.  No more rattling for me.  I''m sure if you place some sort of weight on it, it''ll do the trick.  Let me know if this is the case for you guys as well.

Well I''ll check next time if that is in fact where the noise is coming from. But I doubt it just because of the fact that for us it only happens when in 4wd mode, and does not happen when in 2wd mode. I wouldnt think that the amplifier would really know what mode Im in. Plus the noise sounds like its coming from underneath the car...
