Sorry, if I sound ignorant but to me "stationary satellite" means it stays constantly over a certain geographical area, namely the US or the Americas in general. If so, its impossible to "SEE" Sirius from Greece, am I so wrong?? One other possible problem, for TV only, is the NTSC system for we use PAL in Greece. Actually don''t know if my MMCS can handle NTSC signals or is PAL dedicated since it is the european version BLD#0261EM

Satellite service in Europe is not free including Greece. If Sirius would offer services in Europe they would have to charge extra to cover the charges of satellite rental. In North America anybody can access a Satellite for GPS purposes (there is an agreement between the US and Canadian gov. about Satellite access, so the cost is subsidized) and Sirius can also broadcasts it''s signal to the other free satellites around. That makes Sirius service "cheap" ($10 to $19 a month). I believe Sirius also owns a few satellites in the US... not too sure... In Europe the EU makes a profit from regulation of GPS and satellite access.

You learn something new every day I just assumed that gps coverage worked every where. My sirius portable unit and my gps unit worked just fine when I went oversees to europe and I could have sworn that my sirius unit was working when we where in rome but i guess i could be mistaken on where it was functioning. I do know for sure though that my gps unit for my pda was working absolutely everywhere cause i used it for finding attractions but since i was using my ipod more then my sirius i cant say 100% for sure that it was working everywhere but i dont recall any spots i couldnt use it while i was over there.

Were you near a US military base?
They get free satellite access anywhere in the world. My buddy in Seoul gets free US TV and radio services & he is not in the army

Shambala must be right, thats why we have no commercial promotion what so ever of Sirius satellite radio here in Greece, but I don''t under the GPS matter, I have 2 Garmin units plus the Outlander''s one abord the MMCS that work perfectly & free, are you talking of a diffrent kind of GPS reception?
