I was blinded last night by a "Racing team" on my way home last night (called the decepticons.... haha, nice metallic pearl color on the cars but lots of rice). So i did a lil bit of research on it to see if it was MY problem, and turns out many ppl are bothered by this and these are even illegal

Are any of you also annoyed by them as well as high trucks driving on a 2g? (or another low car) or am i just plain effing grumpy?!

The one thing to note is that any bulb above 7k or is blue - purple is crap.  That light puts out more heat, but not light.  You actually lose visibility.  Bulbs at or around 4300 (what halogens are) are perfect for a bulb swap (conversion it is not).  Up to 6k -6500 are ok as far as visibility, but they still blind passing cars.  The headlight''s reflector dome really isn''t made to properly reflect the light without a lot of adjusting and at that point, they are just pointing down.

These "conversions" are "For off road use only" and retrofits are not DOT approved, so both are illegal.  No, just because you reused the OEM housing which has DOT APPROVED on it doesn''t make it legal, that''s called being sneaky.

IMO, Silvania SilverStars are about the best halogen bulbs to buy for halogen headlamps.  I like the retrofits, but I''m not blind, I can see just fine at night with my SilverStars, so I''m not really for retrofits anymore.  It''s a novelty item.
If anyone has ever seen these after driving for miles on dark interstates would understand how dangerous these "conversions" are.  It''s like your headlight threw up light everywhere and your eyes just happens to catch all of it since your pupils are dilated more when it''s dark than when it''s bright.

if you do it right then hid''s wont blind people. you need a good set of projectors with a good cutoff pattern and you need to align your headlights. everybody slaps the hid''s in their stock headlight assemblies and blinds the hell out of everyone

Yeah yeah yeah... i gotta admit he''s got a point, BUTTTTT like estraw says... dude everybodys like, i like the damn blue light im just gonna slap the HID on it, it blinds ppl?? whatever its blue!!... they dont even do it properly! like rice, ppl have the right to tune their car, but they dont do it the right thus looks HIDEOUS, difference is you actually mess up with other ppl using incorrect set up lights
