Has anyone used their 2007/2008 Outlander to tow a load near the 3500lb limit? My wife and I are going to be moving soon travelling about 6,000km''s and I guess I am looking for reassurance that I won''t have any problems. We are renting a 6''X12'' U-Haul trailer coming in at 1,800lbs which leaves us with 1,700lbs of cargo capacity. I keep asking myself - "Can this vehicle really pulls this off"? Also I generally only ever use my Outlander in 2WD mode, would you drive in 4WD mode while pulling a trailer or stay in 2WD? Thanks, Sean

First of all your towing capacity depends on the Outlander model you have: ES / SE: 1500 - 2000 lb max. LS / XLS: 2000 - 3500 lb max. In the LS and XLS models the 3500 lb max is with 4WD activated, 2WD will only allow a max of 2000lb. before you go on the moving trip make sure you get your car inspected (brake pads, fluids, wheels, etc) What I am worried about is the 1,700 lb. That''s about 8 to 13 people worth of weight (on average) so as long as you do not have 5 to 7 people inside the Outlander, you should be fine but watch the total weight... 1 bed, 3 couches, 2 tables, 6 chairs and 8 boxes of clothing will pretty much get you to your limit fast... p.s. 6000km is almost from Anchorage, Alaska to Orlando, Florida
