I''m going to have to look this one up. As long as it bolts right in and give more power than the weak...erm, I mean OEM one does, I''m down for it.

Cool, thanks. Their search function wasn''t working for me last night. I tried it again today and got a bunch of hits for "alternator" (about 20+ pages) even though I typed in "GM Alternator" just like the title of that thread. Their search function sucks too. It should have gone right to that link.

I don''t like that it has an extra groove. The grinding isn''t so bad, but that extra groove isn''t my thing. Have at it though :)

Yeah I dont like the extra groove on the pulley too, but it should work a lot better then a mitsu alternator.

look i know this posting is a little old but why do all that work and you can buy a 140 amp alternator for the eclipse. they range from 150 to 200.

Bigger alternators can be beneficial to our cars because they can put out their standard amperage without straining the internals. But raise the amperage rating by adding more windings in the stator of ours and you will wear out the alternator faster.
Also, the same amount of rotation from our little alternator can put out more when that amount of rotation goes to a larger one. This puts less strain on the larger alternator.
If your alternator is used for only supplying power to an all stock cabin (no extra power eaters such as a stereo) and motor, the stock alt is fine. The stock alt is fine for even a mildly modded motor and stock cabin. But once you start adding stereos with amps and subs AND modding the motor, our little alt will strain until it fries from being on all the time. So, that''s why a bigger alternator is better in this case. Aside from that, stock is fine.

Also note that heat is not good for any electrical. So, heat + constantly running = death for any alternator.

And $150-$200 for a 140 amp alternator, I''ll be using a 96amp alternator which wont need to be rewired for $25.00.
