Hi there, I hope someone can help me, I am wondering if any one knows how to install the block heater in the 2007 xls outlander. If so, how can it be done and how difficult is it? Thank you.

If you still got your 5-10-5 Mitsu. warranty and would like to keep it, I would go to the local Mitsu. dealership and get them to install it. Any non-Mitsu. parts you install will void your warranty.

seriously, block heaters are AWFUL.
you do NOT need one, and they''re just a way to create a leak where there wasnt one before.
I live in the snow belt, and I will say there is NO reason to use one. Ever.

Manybrews is right the block heater will just make you waste money because it will be plugged in all night until when ever you go out in the morning and if you forget to unplug it , it''s not a fun thing to fix...

get a battery blanket instead. my 07 Galant had one when i got it. i wonder if i can get one for the Outtie as well. never had a problem starting up at -36C in Halifax.

If you live in the States Mitsu can''t do that unless they can prove that the part you installed lead to whatever problem you are having.

i live just off the mountians in southern alberta, where the foothills meet the prairies. its not uncommon to see -50 ambient temp around here for a few days of the year with at least a 3 week spell of -35 or more. i just bought my 2008 outlander, but previously had a 2008 Lancer. i had it through last winter and we had the regular cold snaps as well. i never had a problem with starting. mind you that was a 2.0L 4cyl. im a little concerned with the 3.0 v6 and that kind of cold weather but i guess we will just have to see.

does anyone know if an actual block heater is availible for the 08 outie, or is it just that same junk plug heater into the engine block that is availible. im looking for something that actually warms the fluids.

well me the dealer say they dont need any, they are good to start under -40 with no problem, they should me fine for -50 too.
I live in canada, and winter is cold, and never have no problem, i have the outie 2008 V6.

I live in Calgary. With the aluminum block, there is no "block" heater available. Last week I installed an oil heater onto the bottom of the oil pan. Specifically this one:

It went on without a problem and should heat the oil. That is what gets thick in the cold and causes slow cranking. We''ll see how it goes. If you wanted an added level of help, a battery blanket(warming heater) would help as well. Warm battery=lots of energy to run starter. Warm oil = easy cranking.

Both of these are external items and don''t interfere with the aluminum block or other bits.
