Hey ppl just joined Mitsubishi Forums.

Joined up cause planing to do a 2nd project car was thinking about the Mitsubishi Eclipse. How good are these cars? and whats the best model for speed, handeling and traction etc? Incase your wondering about my 1st project car its a Nissan Pulsar n13 Vector SSS 1989 model which came with the 18le engine but i've just pulled that out and replaced it with a u12 ca18det Bluebird (Jap Spec) engine and yes she is now Turbo running a 13 sec quarter mile. Just thought i would say hi hope to hear from you ppl soon.

Wow, nice project car. I had no idea the Bluebirds came with the ca18's. I thought they came with sr20's usually. But cool choice for a project car. Eclipses are great cars, they have the looks and power and are very upgradable. I think they're were some 1g eclipses(89-94) made in japan, so you might have luck finding one of the those in Australia. The 2g eclipse(95-99) are harder to get though, you'll have to import one from the US. If you want a top-of-the-line eclipse get the GSX model. It's turbocharged and AWD. It makes 210hp and 214lbs of torque. It's somewhat like the Lancer Evolutions you guys have down there. The eclipse engine can handle close to 400hp reliably on a stock block and head. The drivetrains are stout and can handle a good amount of power with a good clutch. Hope everything works out for you, but why not build a Soarer? 2.5l Twin turbo? RWD?? Toyota Reliability??? Well....i think they're cool

yea man the GSX eclipse or the top of the line. they have the power under the hood and can stick to the ground. GOOD CHOICE

Hey SpyderGS and 1rippinGT

Yeh the Bluebirds came with the ca18det but they have stoped makeing them now and have sr20det's i was just lucky to find a u12 ca18det front cut cause they are getting harder to find and are very rare and its only done 90,000 K when i got it. They like to rev hard from the crank shaft being made of steel and 174 kwatts of power standard at the front wheels.

What would be the chances of finding a 1995-1996 eclipse GSX that would be right hand drive? probaly fairly slim i take it.

Any way nice to hear from u's

Well, from 95-99, the eclipse's were only produced in North America, so there were no RHD models. However, here in the U.S. The driver orientation isn't really a problem with our Department of Transportation, they are more concerned with emissions and safety. So you might wanna see if Australia's version of the DOT cares whether or not it's RHD, or if they're more worried about emissions and stuff. Over here, we have RHD Skylines and Kit cars that have a special type of license's plates....it basically says that they're legal even though they're RHD.

If you wanted to make it RHD, you can buy a wrecked Eclipse for fairly cheap over here. Some import/export companies sell the wrecked salvage cars here in the U.S. that are for "export only". They can't be driven in the U.S. but can be taken to another country and be made legal. You *may* be able to make an Eclipse RHD using Lancer Evo(1-3 only) parts for steering and AC/heating. I'm not sure, you should check with a shop and find out....but i dunno.

yea figuring that GSX's come from nor america you would have to get them custom. that probably not going to be cheap

Thanks for the information guys its going to be weird driving a left hand drive but i suppose you get used to it. They sound like an alsome car to drive something diff from skylines and supra's theres too many of them going around.

Too many skylines? Man i wish i lived in australia. My dream project car is either a skyline gts with an rb30 swap, or a soarer 2.5gt or v8. The only car we have over here is the sc400 wish is equivalent to the soarer v8. But i guess since you guys have never seen a mustang or camaro, it evens out....a little

Haha yeh your right about that i haven't seen a mustang i have but not up front just pics and that. Theres a r33 skyline at the garage with a moded rb26dett looks sweet as also its been in Targa Tasmania with the stickers on the side of it.
