First off you want to switch it to the right which will then put you into the different mode. Once you press the gas the car will rev high quickly so when you get to aporx 3 - 4k rpms you want to ease off the gas quickly and move the shifter up once and get back on the gas. Do the same for every gear. You'll get the feel of it and be able to do it smoothly and quickly without even thinking. You dont need to downshift, say for instance your comming to a stoplight. The car will automatically do that. It works out nicely for going up hills because then you can down shift to take stress off the car. Hope this helps

true....you can shift it while you runnin, but not in a high rev. engine though. make sure engine is not accelerating when you do this.

I have a 03 Eclipse GTS w/ sportronic. All it does is allows you to shift at a different RPM than the stock transmission. So you can pretty much just gas it and shift when you want by just tapping it forward without releasing the petal.

Why can't the engine be accelerating when you shift?

i have this in my RT, same engine and tranny as you eclipse guy, and i have BEATEN my autostick on the dragstrip and some autoX'ing for 3 years now, without ANY problems..*knock on wood*...you can shift up, shift down..its great, for what it is....a knee problem prevented me from buying my car in a manual, but this is a nice version of the autostick..and MUCH better than the previous chrysler version.
