Sounds like a really bad problem, but maybe dealer could be right. Did they do a diagnostic or just give advice? Their advice is usually not the best, so the diagnostic would be better.
Which model do you have? RS, GS, GST, GSX? And is it auto or manual? The rs and gs models have a chrysler engine, and the gst and gsx have mitsubishi made engines. So if we can't help you out, the chrysler guys can help. Just go to a Neon, sebring, or avenger site and they have almost the same engine as n/t eclipses. So you got a few resources to go off of. Just reply back and elaborate a little more on what's happening. Hope we can figure this out and have it not cost you a lot of money
