Hi I have a problem with my 1996 lancer gsr, its tiptronic and sometimes when it changes from 2nd to 3rd it changes harshly, it may do this for an hour, it may do this for a day, then it will stop and not do it for 3 weeks its really intermittant, i have know idea what this could be.

any help would be greatly appreciated

I dont know if this will help but, I have a 97 Diamante that was banging the trans shifts like I was at the dragstrip all the time and I was idling throough the shifts. It was under warranty and the dealers thought was to replace the tranny (42k) with a new one, that didnt fix it, so, they replaced the chip that told the tranny how to shift, problem fixxed, no more problems and now it has 97k on it....thats my story and I am sticking with it, hope it helps..
