Im just curious if anyone has heard of swapping the 4g63 motor and transmission into the 3g eclipses or if it is even possible. Any information would be helpful.

If I am not mistaken, which I think I am, some of the early 3g's came with a non turbo 4g63. The switch can be made(only things that dont need to be replaced are the head and block) either way dont do it. Too much time/effort/money.

Actually they came with the 4g64 and I think the time and effort would be well worth it. I personally like the 3g styling more than the 2g and definitely over the 1g. I know that with modification the the top end can of the 4g63 can be mated to the 4g64 block but with lots of modification. But Im interested in a total gut of the engine bay and a drop in of the more powerful more potent 4g63 motor and transmission.

Its well worth it why are people so stupid not to do it? Also If the head isant made for the motor it wont work. Its not like you can bust out a stone wheel and grind some stuff to make it fit.

Sounds like everyone that read the post still doesnt understand what Im trying to accomplish. In all honesty what motor could you not spend upwards of 10grand to modify. and I highly doubt it will cost 10g to pull the old motor myself sell it and put the 4g63 engine and transmission from the 99 gst in it. But anyways maybe someday when I get it done I will post some pics Its only too much money if its not something you would like to do. Tell me that swap wouldnt make the magazines. Anyways thanks for the lack of help on the questions. I will just do some more research and trial and error it myself

what can take a lot of time and money is if the mounts and stuff like that its not that the motor is going to cost a lot to buy its all the little stuff that will nickle and dime ya ta death just to get it to work right. Just a question didn't the 3g come with a v6 or did they have a model that had a 4g64 insted of a 6g motor.

you would have to make modifications to the firewall to make the engine fit.

just a question....do you know ANYTHING about the 4G64? the engine has great potential. it can hold atleast 15psi of boost all on stock internals. i know of one guy that has pushed it to 19psi and has been running fine for about a month. i think thats great for an engine that was never suppose to see boost.

just so you know...there are alot of similarities between the 4G63t and the 4G64.
