My question is will a 4g63 GST engine swap out with a 97 eclipse GS engine??? And would it make a difference if you put a manual trans engine in an automatic trans? yEAH i NKNOW newbie if anyone has any info that would be great.

You've got to think about it like this A.) Automatic trans has only the stick to shift into gear, manual has the pedal and clutch as well as a different type of shifter setup. It's a pain to switch from auto to manual. I'm not sure about the engine part though.

if its a gs with a na 2.0 or a 2.4 witch is still a 4g63 or a4g64 there are just non turbo version the turbo engine code is 4g63t or 4g64t if its a 1.8 you'll have more trouble the auto to manual conversion is a little bit of a pain u will have to goto the junk yard and remove a pedal assembly and the shifter assembly but its not to bad though it should take you about 8 to ten hours to do if you know what your doing any other questions feel free to ask

The engine swap wont work. I did research on that too back when i had an RS. The only turbo engine you can drop in there is the Evo engine... I believe. But i know for a fact that swap wont work. If you wanna turbo your car, might as well sell your car and buy a GST or GSX.
