Gday, as said its an '89 magna with astron II fuel injected, i think it's a TP magna. basically it turns over but doesn't fire, it has fuel, has compression (not sure how much), has spark, i think it's the right colour. but after reading a TM series service manual i gathered that my ignition control unit may have suddenly died, as it says quote: "Do not open circuit any high tension cable with ignition switched on or with engine running as the control unit can be damaged." and on two occasions a few weeks ago one of the leads fell off and created an open circuit. The last time the engine was started my dad started it to move it, it stalled, then when started again it ran badly. i checked all the plug leads yesterday and one of them had a very high resitance and when flexed it became open circuit, so could also have been a cause of the problem. trouble is, im using a TM series magna service manual, and i think mine is a TP, and the diagrams in the TM manual show where the control unit is, mounted to the outside of the distributor, mine is not there, mine has 4 wires plugged into the base of the dissy. Is that where i can find the control unit? and is there an easy way to get to it/test it? any other ideas on what the problem could be? thanks in advance. Dan.
