When I had my Navi put in...my guy wired it up so the stock amp would still work. I'm not sure how he did it...but it's 100% that it can be done.

aight, guess ill pull it apart and look at it again.. last time I was too tired to jack with it.. Ill post something if I do it..

First pull off the dash bezel surrounding the radio. It will not come all the way off until you dissconnect the heater control cables from under the drivers side dash and another wired plug. Next unbolt the drivers seat and push it backwards to gain access to the amp. If you are going to remove the seat entirly and you have airbags in the seats you will want to disconnect the (-) battery terminal before unplugging or repluging the the connection harness that runs into the seat. Then run 4 sets of speaker wire from the radio cavity under the dash and carpet to the stock amp under the drivers seat. Unplug the white harness these are the wires running to your speakers. Use a muti meter and set it to continuity. You meter should beep when there is a connection. What you are trying to do it find the 6 pairs of wires that run to each speaker. When you think you have found a pair take a battery, like a 9v or AA what ever, and touch the speaker wires to each end you should hear a small pop coming from the speaker you have found. When you have found all the wires you then want to connect your 4 door speakers to the wires you ran up to the deck. bes sure get you positives and negitives right, heres how, take all the covers off your speakers, the just pop of from the bottom, when you use a larger battery like a drill battery and pop the speakers wires with it and the speaker pops out that means the speaker wire touching the positive teminal of the battery is the positive speaker wire. if the speaker wire pops in the wire touching the negative battery teminal is the positive. Got it? Good. Now if your keeping your stock speakers dont connect the tweeters. Why you ask? Because you deck only has the output for 4 speakers. If you connect tweeters you would have to tie them in with the front speakers. Whay cant you do that? Because thats what is called runing you speakers in parellel and by doing so your droping the ohm load in half which is to low for your deck to handle so you will end up blowing your speakers anyway and probably your deck as well. ie.. 4 ohm speaker & 4 ohm tweeter connected positve to positive and neg to neg would have a total load of 2 ohms. So if you want better sound buy som after market spearks as well or even a component set that come with tweeters and mount them in the stock locations. Okay so after you connected you speaker wires at the amp put it all back together and now just connect the speaker wires from the deck to the wires you ran up to the radio. Factory amp is bypassed. Use an aftermarket mitsubishi wiring harness (avalible at best buy usualy bout $17) to connect the power wires and I would ground the deck to the metal in the cavity using a ring teminal and a screw. Mounting the deck can be tricky to get it to look nice. I used the factory brackets and just drilled new holes to adjust where the deck sat. I also left the trim ring on the radio and snaped the dash bezel over the top of it. Dont foget to plug in your antenna and reconnect all your heater controls.
