the RS and GS come with the 4G64

The GT comes with 6G72. There was no GTS between 2000-2002.

are you sure about that? i could have sworn that they made an 02 GTS...as i looked at a GTS spyder prior to buying my 02 RT...hmm..interesting..

anyway, the GTS also uses the 6g72, but it uses the intake manifold similar to that found on the 6g74, which accounts for the increase of 5 (i believe) hp...maybe 10...?

nope...no GTS in 2002...however, i *believe* the '02 Spyder GT has the GTS engine

and the GTS intake manifold accounts for 10 more hp. it also has 10:1 CR pistons while the GT engine has 9:1 CR

So no more dodge engines as the 420a in the 95-99 eclipses. Also what does an intake manifold run for one. This guy is selling an eclipse 2000 GS and wants 3,000 for it. 130,000 miles, 5 spd. Its in good shape just got recently painted. It putters like its about to die though because of the intake manifold is cracked looks like he tried to do a ****ty weld job and it didn't work. It still runs though. Also 2nd gear syncro is out he said he had that at home. What do you guys think?? is 3,000 a good enough deal to replace the manifold and maybe a syncro in 2nd?? or would driving on a bad intake manifold cause a hell of a lot more problems down the road???

1.) yes..still using dodge engines(or dodge using mitsu engines, whichever way you want to look at it). The 6G72 is also found in the dodge stratus r/t and sebring LXi.
2.) you could probably get a stock intake manifold for about $200 at a junkyard.

Yeah the intake manifold isn't too expensive but bad syncro's makes me think that that tranny is probably getting ready to go. I don't know what kind of wear and tear that puts on the engine ( bad manifold )

the synchros seem to be awful in just about all of the V6 5spds. mine are bad, if not gone. i get the infamous '2nd gear grind' all the time.

i don't know of any long term effects of the cracked intake manifold, but its not something that I would continue to drive around with.
