so the mirage intake is a perfect fit? i mean, the one thath fits with a minimum amount of modding?

yep...make sure its the 1.8 LS mirage, the angle is perfect fit (throttle head - to- front ) CAI system mirage will fit too, but what suck is, the oil cooler is blocking the path. plus the lower elbow is too thin to fit inn.

I think you'll have better luck with the one for the eclipse.

thats what i, have right now, also...i, took off my hose ( one that connects the engine cover valve) i, replaced the hose ( cover valve) w/ a breather filter, then i, molded a chunk of silicone hose to cover the intake pipe hose insert. ( straight thru air all the time , no worries of feeding the valve. just straight air....)

everytime you'r going to install parts, ( aftermarket or stock ) always re-set your computer. well, unplug batteries before installing parts, the most efficient way.

The "extra" parts from the factory air intake setup- the "box' that seems to do nothing but disrupt airflow just after the inlet.

I'm getting a decent 10.2l / 100km aka 23mpg, with the AWD Manual transmission version (according to the computer display). I usually drive a combination of urban roads and highway, with moderately quick accelerations.
I hope I can keep it that way!!

Fuel consumption..
Brand new 2006 Outlander SE.
4 speed automatic transmission
2.4L I4, 16-Valve, SOHC, MPFI engine
horsepower 160@5750
torque 162@4000.

The dealer said it will do better once the motor breaks in.. time will tell..

12/11/2006, New, Full tank, 000045 km, Just picked it up,
Cost, Odometer, Liters, trip meter, type,
12/15/2006, (83.9) $45, 000471, 53.6, city,
12/22/2006, (87.9) $47, 000847, 53.5, 375.5, city,
12/25/2006, (94.1) $46.50, 001265, 49, 417, highway,
12/26/2006, (88.3) $44, 001750, 50, 485, highway,
12/27/2006, (86.8) $46, 002213, 53, 462, highway,

Distance
2213- 45 = 2168km
Liters = 259.1
km/L = 8.367
L/100km = 11.95
MPG = 19.68

First time I did the math on this.. the dealer better be right because that miliage sucks!!
what happend to "It has an EPA fuel economy rating of 21 city/27 highway miles per gallon."

** I relies I didn't put temperature and that can really effect fuel efficiency.. it
has been between +5°C and -10°C for the last 3 weeks. Toronto Ontario canada

Hi there,
Sad to hear you're getting a bad MPG for a brand new car.

Sounds weird to me, I didn't get a fuel usage like that on my new 04 Outlander, mayby the first 500 km it was like 10.7 L / 100 km but I drove quite relaxed in the first 1000km, and almost never on freeways.

I have to tell you this could be related to the fuel blend. I've filled my outtie with regular euro-super from ConocoPhilips some weeks ago and I had all of a sudden a much worse fuel efficiency (10.9L), although I'v used that fuel many times with a good 10.3L/100. Mayby they changed to a winter-blend or something.
Now I'm using the eurosuper from Shell (said to be an "economy-formula"), and I'm back to 10.4L/100 (after resetting the fuel economy meter) This last figure was with temperatures of 0°C to 5°C.

I believe temperature can indeed affect your fuel efficiency since the engine needs more time to warm up...

Just a thought, mayby your fuel management system needs a reset or something.
By the way: do you get the same fuel efficiency figure on your info screen as the one you've calculated?

Good luck!
