moxlon69 -> RE: Need spare key for Spyder (4/1/2006 11:37:14 PM)

My brother bought an older eclipse, a 2001, from the only dealership in our area. He also only received one key. His wife is related to a locksmith out of state who is sending him a pair of blank keys, but said that he'll need to have a local shop program the keys. The unprogrammed keyblanks are fairly easy to get, but if I can save him the programming fees, I'd love to do that. Is it possible to program these keys using a similar technique as the GM Passkey system, which requires you to have a functional key, or (lesser known) an hour of free time to force the computer to program the key? I'd rather deal with our local dealership as little as possible, the only good employees there are the mechanics. everyone else seems a bit crooked to me.. Thanks
