I want to build a 4-500 hp setup for my galant. i'm thinking i'm going to start with the 4g63 head on 4g64 block hybrid, bore and stroke it out and run a very high compression and run a big turbo. But i really dont know where to begin. also i want to convert to 5 speed ( 6speed if possible).
currently the car is an almost stock 98 galant ES AT 4g64.
Please give me ideas.
thanks!

posted in eclipse forum because i know one of you have to have done this type of setup

If you want a 4-500 hp car start over with a different car... The money that you will have to stick into that thing wont be worth it.

Im not trying to be mean but you are heading in a completely wrong direction idea wise. 4g64 block and 4g63 head is a great combo to work off of, BUT.... bore and stroke it?? its already a 2.4 liter. You dont stroke that motor. secondly, you dont run very high compression and turbo, thats going in completely opposite directions. as for tranny, 5speeds are stronger than 6 speeds, thats why the evo went back to the tried and proven 5 speed. if you have $10k sittin around for this project and know where to buy things for the cheapest possible price and can install alot of it yourself you can have a very potent car. If not, this may not be a good project for you. I suggest researching for a few months before diving in.

You're going to be dumpin ALOT of $ to get it up to 500 HP. Besides that you DEFINATELY need to research things. I can't stress it enough RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH!!!

agreed. i know of a couple of fully built 4G64s(in eclipses) that should be pushing well over 400whp once they get dynoed. give a call to Road///Race Service. They have built a 4G64.

This is one reason why I am so determind to show people what Galants are made of. Are you guys even aware that the Eclipse was based off of the Galant plateform? What car was the first to bring the 4G63t to the US? Wasn't the Eclipse it was the 6G Galant VR-4. You guys are knocking him for something that he is very capable of doing if he is pointed to the right track instead of being laughed at. Yes he needs to do his research but we all had to start somewhere.

Drop the 4G64 your running now and drop in a 4G63t. Your in a better position then I am with your motor facing the same way the DSM motors are. You want lower compression not higher and yes you can drop in a 5 speed. Drop in the 4G63t first then we can talk about building that motor......

wait....you want to show people what Galants are made of but you want to swap the engine out? why not keep the engine and show what a original Galant is made of?

before you answer that...is a '98 Galant the 7G or 8G Galant? i get mixed up in the years.

the galant will never get to 500hp. look at all the 3Gs with that motor 1BADRS on neweclipse . org spent years thousands apon thousands of dollars and was just bealry getting over 400WHP. I dont think there are many 4G64 or even 6G72 eclipse\ galants that have broke 430WHP without nearly $10K in mods or more.... that is ALOT of money in MODS.... about $4000 to $5000 will only get you to 275WHP on the 4G64 and to get more after that it only gets much more expensive
