Ok i do know how they work and basic concepts of many parts of them from the post i have read from you guys now i got a question. I have been looking at turbos to replace the t25 that is in my gst now. I would like to go with a 16g turbo but everone has a $150-$200 2g install kit. what dose this come with? i notice they all bolt up to the 1G with no kit. Now here is the harder part can i take the harware like the exhaust manafold off a 1G and port and polish it and put it on my 2g scence they both have a 4g63? if so will this eliminate the need for the 2G install kit?

I think the o2 housing and oil lines that are also different. For sometihing like this you may be better off calling up a performance shop and asking them.

the kit comes with 2 1/4" lower I/C pipes, 7cm gasket, 2 1/2" DP gaskets, SS oil supply line kit, and oil drain gasket.

i don't see why you could use the exhaust manifold from the 1G. but i think that exhaust manifold would probably cost you about the same as the install kit. then with the porting, it could turn out to be more.

there is no need fot the 1G manifold the 2G one is better if I remember correctly. and the problem with the 16G on a 2G is that the turbo housing faces upward and the T25 housing fdaces downward toward the Intercooler so you need the install kit for a J pipe as well as oil lines ect ect. the 1Gs 14B faces exactly as the 16G does so there is no need for a J pipe or install kit

Getting a 1G manifold will still mean you need the install kit. the 14B is totally different from the T25 the face differently as I said before. so even a manifold swap isnt going to change the fact that the T25 faces downward and the 14B/16G face upward

i think hes thinking about getting a 16G and a 1G manifold(which should work fine, right?) instead of a 1G manifold and keeping the stock T25.

no because the 16G and the 14B are the same housings they face the same why so the lower IC pipe is shaped like a J because it loops around to the IC. the T25 lower IC pipe is more of a straight shot right to the IC. so either manifold isnot going to change the fact that his stock lower IC pipe doesnt loop up to the top of the turbo so He will need the J pipe for that

ahh...yes. so either way he goes, he needs to buy the kit.
