so the best bet is to just buy that damn install kit for a 2g?

Getting a 1G manifold will still mean you need the install kit. the 14B is totally different from the T25 the face differently as I said before. so even a manifold swap isnt going to change the fact that the T25 faces downward and the 14B/16G face upward

i think hes thinking about getting a 16G and a 1G manifold(which should work fine, right?) instead of a 1G manifold and keeping the stock T25.
no because the 16G and the 14B are the same housings they face the same why so the lower IC pipe is shaped like a J because it loops around to the IC. the T25 lower IC pipe is more of a straight shot right to the IC. so either manifold isnot going to change the fact that his stock lower IC pipe doesnt loop up to the top of the turbo so He will need the J pipe for that

ahh...yes. so either way he goes, he needs to buy the kit.

at least a 1G J pipe im not sure what else is needed from there though

when i installed my 16g I was cheap an didnt wana buy an install kit either so I did a little research and found out what parts I will need. You basically need the J-pipe, a new oil line (get a ss one), and a couple of gaskets. go to roadrace and you can buy these parts individually for around $80 total. Go to vfaq.com for install instructions and find out which gaskets you will need. The install kit reaplces all gaskets but you may not need to replace most of them. If you cant figure it out then just buy the kit.

ok i understand what everone is saying but if the 16g will bolt up to the 1G manafold why would i still need the install kit if every site i go to says that you do not need a install kit for a 1G eclipse? is it that i would nee the manafold and the ower IC pipe? or is it the exhaust j-pipe?

The Lower IC pipe is a "J" pipe. on the 1G it comes off the turbo and loops down to the IC because the housing of the turbo 14B and 16G face upward but the T25 turbo faces downward so the lower IC pipe is a straight shot to the IC

Go to roadrace and look for yourself what comes in the install kit and you'l understand. Unless you have custom IC piping, the J pipe is a must. So is an oil line. You will need a couple of gaskets as well depending on the condition of the ones you have now.

Here is what did when i replaced my t25 with a 16G. I had the mechanic cut the end of the t 25 where the ic connects. He the went and welded that piece to the end of the new turbo. I didn't have to buy a j pipe I still have the s shaped one. You still will need the new oil line but you can get them for $80 or so. I can upload a pic when i get my camera and what is the site to upload pics to?

AS far as I know I thought the T25 cannot but the 14b can be made as a small 16G but I may be wrong I am not a DSM guy lol
