A couple days ago my oil pressure light started coming on.  The light only comes on when my car is warm and only when I am stoped and at my low rpms around 700, and the second I hit the gas or raise my rpms by about 100 it goes off.  I checked the oil it was where it should be and I did an oil change about 1k miles ago.  Anyone know what the problem might be.

Lack of flow, something maybe be *choking* the oil supply at low pressure(engine idle).  Could be something as simple as a dented oil pan.  Not a problem, but it can be annoying.  What oil filter did you use?

do you have and clicking sound in the top end of the engine ?

any oil leaks? any little puddles at all under your car? ..the sending unit could be leaking ..at idle you will get false readings your best bet is to hook up an external oil pressure guage to get true readings  can use an after market guage or rent one from a place like autozone for a few bucks ...after you get your readings repost your findings

how many miles did you turn on the odometer

Same thing on my 94 Galant once I hit about 160,000 (now at 182,000), oil light on when warm at idle, hit the throttle and it goes off. Mechanic just said the seals are getting old, doesn't keep the pressure up as well at idle, but it's nothing to worry about. Haven't noticed any of the problems you mentioned Mitsu-tech.

My idle is ok at idle, but for some reason it's right at or a tiny bit below normal when it's at 3000rpm after it's warmed up. THe oil pump is dented a little. How low is the strainer for the oil pump in the pan?
