I've got a 95 Galant S w/the 5 speed manual and about 3 weeks ago after having to do a wheel spinning pull out around a turn (due to some moron who ran a red light...idiot..) the shifter started to feel a little balky. It was shifting fine..but it felt as if someone had padded the inside of the box, like shifting through pillows almost. It also had a slight tendency to lock itself into a gear (unless I gave it a good hard shove) like my synchros were going out. A few days ago, I pulled out of a neighborhood and hit a rock as i was shifting from 2nd to 3rd it bounced the front end of the car up and caused me to miss the gear a little bit. This shot the engine up to the redline. Right as I caught the gear the engine hit about 5 grand and that was all she wrote. Immediately the shifter went too far forward..about an inch past where in normally stops in third gear. I can't get it to come back out of this position and the clutch pedal has no effect whatsoever. I'm hoping it may just be something to do with my linkage...but I haven't had time to take it apart yet..any suggestions?
