Hey I had the same problem running my positive wire in my 2000 Eclipse GT. I ran an 1/0 gauge positive through the firewall by simply drilling a hole and then siliconeing it. That's about the only advise I can give you. Hope it helps you.

I have a 95 rs and I ran the power wire to the passenger side, there is a bunch of wires there and I just pushed it through and had someone grab it and pull it on through. It wasn't that hard to do.

If you look behind the carpet on the drivers side, you will see a wire harness going through the side leading to the fusebox in the engine compartment. It take a bit more finess than drilling a hole in metal, but the end product is much more to be desired. You can also use a spare slot in the fuse box for a fuse for your amp.
