MY '95 DIAMANTE WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR ALL THE TIME. I WAS TOLD TO CHECK THE FILTER/STRAINER TO SEE IF IT WAS CLOG. COULD THIS CAUSE THE PROBLEM OR AM I DOOM! TO PURCHASE OR REBUILD MY TRANSMISSION. WHAT IS THE GOING PRICE FOR ONE?

You should defenetly check the Transmission fluid level. The transmission could be completly dry, and will refuse to be put into gears. My friends Chrysler Grand Voyager did that one morning, it wasn't responding, so he filled it up and started the car, and it worked fine. If the transmission was blown, you'd deffenetly notice it while driving, It doesn't happens over night. Good luck!

Almost forgot! If the Filter is clogged by metal fragments and dirt, wich may have entered the tranny by the dipstick tube, You need to get it replaced and have the tranny cleaned and refilled by a dealer.
