Gt Turbo -> HELP 2006 eclipse GT Turbo (3/1/2006 6:03:08 PM)

hey everyone, I need some help. I have a 2006 eclipse GT and i need to turbo it. I most likely going with a T-4 from turbonetics but i need to know how many psi the new 2006 eclipse GT can handle with out totally rebuilding it. I want to push 14 psi and ive been told 6psi is max. I have also been told 12psi is max. I plan on running 6 psi normally and only switch to 14psi on race nights. The car is getting built for show but i want the power not just the look. Pls any advice would hel. thx

although i do not know the max psi for the 4G V6 engine, i would say to not go over 6psi without atleast replacing the pistons.

try talking to Russ (tearstone) or RPW http://www.rpw.com.au/ and go to the "Contact Us" list. RPW is currently making internal engine parts for the 4G V6. they should be able to help you out with the limits of the engine.

why not just run 14psi all of the time, a ebc that would be able to do such of a thing would be very expensive and you would need a awesome pmc to be able to do that.

Contact hahnracecraft.com they are currently fabbing up a kit for the 06gt.

Well i know its going to be expensive lol I am not rich but I got sponsors for parts not labor. I just didnt want to rebuild a New engine, I was hoping the Mivec could handle the boost. but ill check out the new pistons. I really hoping to boost this car up to 550hp at least with a single turbo then later go twin. and i was hoping to keep the warrenty but I know that impossible with new pistons =(.

DryBear -> RE: HELP 2006 eclipse GT Turbo (3/3/2006 1:51:23 PM)

FYI, not sure how the pistons are on the new 4G V6, but for the 3G GT engine and turbo, the max safe PSI for stock engine was 8PSI. For the 3G GTS, it was ~5PSI, due to the higher compression pistons that were pretty weak.

the MIVEC has nothing to do with the limits of the engine. you want to have 550hp on the stock engine? not going to happen. hell, i don't think the highly touted 4G63 can do 550hp stock.

also, you do not want 550hp on a FWD car. traction will be your biggest enemy.

Well said, you need lots of displacment to do soemthing like that, a 6cyl isant going to cut it.

I'm dying to find out. I've had a few queries from 4G owners that want kits built for their cars at cost but can't invest the time with their car. :(

DixonsGst -> RE: HELP 2006 eclipse GT Turbo (3/6/2006 3:26:22 PM)

good luck with that lol....550hp on stock internals your dreamin!!! If you want to turbo a non-turbo car its going to be hella expensive and if your looking for the cheap way out forget about it.

HOLY this hole statment is not happening lol... adding a turbo will trash your warrenty forget the pistons the turbo will alone. 550HP on the stock motor never gonna happen the EVO 4G63 can barley make 500 without needing a rebuild and that is built from the factory for boost. and 550 on FWD you will never have traction even with DRs on it. unless your not planning on driving the car on the street its not worth the money to shoot that high. I would say 350hp is a good number for the sled to take maybe even 400hp. but even still you will need at least pistons and maybe cams and ALOT of time money and tuneing
