Ok here it goes. Just Purchased two alpine Type R's (6.5's) for my 2000 Eclipse. Turns out that the grills for the front two speakers arent grill at all. there part of the friggin door. DSM hates it when people try to mess w/ thier audio masterpieces. lol. anyways These speakers are big and come with an awesome aftermarket grill that i would like to use. I want to know how to remove the "grill" from the door panel (clean job) and install the Type-R's with out damaging any thing. I had a theory on how to do it but then later stopped and figured i'd ask. I thought I might take off Inside door panel completely. Modify the door panel by removing the circular grill/vent. Install the speaker and then mod the custom grill on top of it. Im probably wrong but some feedback or links to this project being completed would be awesome. Thanks everyone. BTW. Next week im getting Magnaflow's new CB exaust. I wondered if it would be ok to install the exaust w/o puttin on the new headers. Im waiting on the Headers because I need the F/A module. Dont want her running to rich ya know. Thanks again

Chris

I have a 2001 Eclipse and I've thought about this as well. I was thinkin about just cutting the grill out flush with the door panel and fasten the new grill to the hole. There will most likely be some custom fitting to be done. Or there may be some type of plastic clip I can use. I have the Kicker Ks60 6.5" and the grills look like they will fit very easily.

Did you ever figure out how you will approach the situation?
