I have a 2001 Eclipse and when I am doing anything over 60mph and hit the brakes I get a severe shake in my front end. I just had new tires put on and balanced and had my alignment checked. Is it my brakes that is causing this shake? The car drives great at all other times. Help!!

I'm not a brake expert by any means, but I know on my old car (not a Mitsu) I had a problem like this. It wasn't a severe shake, but I could sure feel it shaking when I had to do a hard brake. I had the brake pads replaced, and the rotors smoothed out.. it fixed my problem.

yes it is the brakes that are causing the shake. Most likely your rotors are warped so you will need to go buy new rotors and brake pads, that will fix the problem.

Yeah definately the brakes... If you can find a shop to turn them go for it. The one I used to work at wouldn't turn the rotor only replace. Also be wary of the material on the rotor the state I'm in has a safety inspection and the rotors are required to be a certain thichness. Also if they're warped then turning isn't going to help replacement will be necessary. Also do the pads at the same time as the rotors (Might as well you'll have them off anyways).

i used to have a van with rediculously warped rotors. It felt like both front wheels were trying to fall off when i braked.
