I noticed that I'm not getting heat in my Galant. The blower works, but only blows cold. My coolant reservoir is full, and the running temperature is normal.

Any suggestions?

I would check to make sure your know is actaully working. You may have stripped the plastic on the other side, that sometimes happen. The best way to check is that the knob should sort of click into each temp. If that is not the case check to see if you get heat when you are in defrost. If you still dont get any heat I would suspect that the heater core is not working properly.

I had the exact same problem. What i did was turn the heat from blasting to somewhere in the middle, and then it stared blowing out hot air.

I checked the knob and it was OK.
The heat randomly works at this point. It also just started making a weird noise from behind the center dash vents. Everytime i move the temperature knob it makes a loud noise then goes away after a few seconds.

Look under the dash at both sides of the center console. On the left- you'll see the cable that actuates the blend doors for hot or cold air. If you actuate the knob on the dash and the cable just sorta bends in place- you'll need to resecure the cable back into it's mount. If the cable is IN the mount but bends anyway, you'll need to replace the cable. Since you have an 03, you should still be under warranty.

I checked the cable and connections and everything was fine.

I did notice that only one of the heater core hoses was hot when there is not heat into the car, and that the days I DO have heat, I hear a rattling noise coming from the dash when i start the car. Since its an intermittent problem, I wonder if there is a valve or something that controls the flow to the heater core?

I found out that there is a hot water valve and hot water motor that controls flow to the heater core. Sounds like a pretty big job to replace as the book time is 6.1 hours for labor only.

Shouldn't your 03 be part of the "Best Backed" warranty that was extended to 10yr/100k powertrain and 5yr/60k bumper to bumper?
