I have a 91 Galant GSX with an all wheel drive tranny I bought from an auction sold by a dealer (who probably gave up on the problem). The car has been to the transmission place 12 times now! no kidding... They 1st rebuilt the transmission & the tranny would run fine then go into limp mode (once lasted a few months) & the shop would replace the selenoids & then go into limp mode again after some hard (banging into gear) shifting & then selenoids replaced again & start all over again. The transmission place keeps replacing the solenoids & checking for shavings, loose electrical connections & can't find why it is still in limp mode & says it has to be an electrical problem. After many times driving it from electrical shop to transmission shop (in limp mode) the electrical shop now says the automatic transmission is STILL stuck in limp mode (3rd gear only) "& it shouldn't be"... The electrical place checked: generating pulse, changed computer ECM with a used one, harnesses, wire console, all grounds, all power, alternator constant, neutral safty switch ok & everything else on car runs ok so it can't be computer... Can anyone help?

Im guessing your Auto Tranny is similar to the FTO. I had the same problem and wrote this http://www.ftooc.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=470 as a guide on what to check. See if that helps at all.

Have you hooked it up to a mitsubishi computer to see what error codes its throwing out?
