Hey all, new to the forum here. just sold my 1.8T 20V....going to be getting an EVO soon, but want to get something for the winters...so what the hell, why not a GSX. my question is, is there anything out of the ordinary to look for when buying one of these babies? thanks. -nate sheetone@yahoo.com

Welcome aboard. burnt would know more about the gsx. What year you looking for? one major thing would be a maintenance log. because mitsus dont like to be past due on their maintenance. Timing belt, cv boots, listen for lifter tick, and crank walk tick (not near as frequent).

crankwalking...ooooouch! cv joints are a biggie...so is the damn transfer case....but that's on recall...so you can get that repaired.

yeah, check for a twisted frame.. some dicks don't know how to drive and think that AWD means you can do ANYTHING with it... I wish I had mine as a winter car! very good choice. GSX is fairly heavy, and if you have snow.. AWD is AWESOME! other things to check.. make sure with the timing belt, every 60,000 miles.. if this breaks, you may as well kiss your engine goodbye. other things would be the transfer case, check for leaks as well as if it is running properly. depending on the miles you may experience crank walk (as in all 2nd gen)... what else... I had a problem with my water pump and the tranny...just cause the previous owner was a DICK. lol, other than that... hmm GET GOOD TIRES! watch for the door and window seals.. the doors are way heavy and sometimes get "mis" alligned. and ALSO.. make sure the turbo has no play when spooling, cause that is bad to start off with.. any other Q's.. I hope I can help.
