Hey guys I have a 2006 Lancer ES and needing more horsepower and wondering if performance chips do help on performance on horsepower or not so what kind should I use your help is very appreciated thanks :)

No the "so called" performance chips do not do anything. All they are is a resistor. You can get one any any electronics store for about 20 cents. That is one of the biggest scams of all time IMO.

Ohhh serious? dang I've heard they don't work then a buddy of mine did some research said that chips do make a difference on car performance. So why don't they work?

no no noGerman cars use real chips that do work but mitsus use piggy backs for the same type of thing, on a non turbo car it wont do really anything unless you have header(s) and a piggy back tuned.

The resistor thing doesnt work on any car that is a scam

Hmmmm so what will work then for mitsu then cause they are computer and they program into your car that has a computer in it so it doesn't make sense to me?

So has anyone heard of the ROAD/RACE Piggyback VERSION 2 from what I hear it works really good but haven't heard on the horsepower gain so let me know if you know or heard of anything :)

i looked up on it a bit. It seems like an overkill for a mad in the begining. I doesnt seem like it would be useful for a N/A car

Can't you just send in your chip and get it reprogrammed by a tuner company?

send ur ECU in to JET preformance and they will tune it and send it back over night for about $300.00, i dont know if its affective i havent had it done.

The roadrace piggybacks are dyno'd at 27HP gain, but that's with an exhaust, short ram intake and downpipe.( based on the RA Lancer) As for the ES, I'm not sure. I went to talk to one of the guys who works there and I'm trying to make my car a little more powerful, especially in the lower RPM's prior to the "switchover" at 3000 to 3500 RPM's.
