rough idle

outlancer -> rough idle (7/1/2004 7:14:00 PM)

when i put my new intake and adapter on my outlancer it began to miss quite a bit but when i would reinstall the old intake the missing was gone. so i thought maybe it was a vacuum leak. I took the initiative and sealed the adapterwith a gasket maker. i thought the problem was fixed but after a few minutes of driving the rough idle an miss returned. now the original intake is on the car and it runs fine. Any ideas?

What kind of intake are you putting on?
Can you take any pictures?

outlancer -> RE: rough idle (7/2/2004 1:10:46 PM)

its just an adapterplate with a cone filter connected to the original air intake piece nothing too fancy

wildwest -> RE: rough idle (7/2/2004 1:14:25 PM)

maf still connected?

outlancer -> RE: rough idle (7/2/2004 1:17:34 PM)

yup all connections are correct

does the outlander have a vacuum line before the intake box? other than that i dunno...

outlancer -> RE: rough idle (7/2/2004 4:03:14 PM)

i was wondering if your service engine is on after you installed your intake becuz mines is still on for about 3 weeks now and im just waiting for it to turn off

outlancer -> RE: rough idle (7/3/2004 11:27:38 AM)

no my service engine light never came on because of the intake but id did come on because the maf was not connected

If your check engine light is on - the ecu is registering a code. It is doubtful that this will simply disappear.

You need to have the code read to diagnose what the problem is.
