Hi i just recently purchased a evo9. now that the brake in period is up i tried launching it a few times to get the feel of it for drag racing. now i have heard that these clutches are weak but i mean ever time it started to slip and would smell pretty bad.. Is this normal on the stock clutch or what. i would say i was reving it between 5-6k and letting out the clutch fast but not a complete dump and every time it would slip the clutch? Any thoughts thanks Adam ...

that is the perfect way to launch the car yes the clutch is weak but figure what your doing to it. mine has 30k on it now still goes good I dont launch it. You will smell that horride smell every time untill you upgrade it but honestly you should always slip the clutch a bit on a launch other wise you will damage your transfer case and that is and expensive fix

Its Your Clutch... it Starts off in High Rpms then Gets Lower and Lower Until You Cant Drive it anymore..... If i Where you Id get a Exedy Twin Disk. Thats what i have on my EVO VIII. And for the Guy Launching his Evo at 5k 6k... Lower your Rpms a lil Or Very Soon You T case will be Gone And othere Stuff.
