Hey guys, Ive been having a small problem with my 1996 eclipse gs-t. some times when i get on the gas hard it seems to studder a little bit and then the turbo kicks and it takes off, it only happens every once and a while but i was just wonderin if u guys had an idea of what that might be. Someone told me to get new plugs and wires but i dont know much about turbocharged vehicles so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Primo

that wouldnt be turbo lag, try replacing the plugs and wires (good time for an upgrade anyway) and if thats not it i'd have to say fuel pump..hope that helped any

NGK and Bosch have always been good to me as far as plugs go.. and as for wires if you can afford it Pilot motorsports..but for a decent set of wires without braking the bank APC and arospeed will do the trick

Lags then kicks? All right here's what I suggest. First get injector cleaner in your gas tank. Now get carb cleaner and an old toothbrush. Pop the hood and take the intake piping off the throttle body. (Throttle body is the part with the butterfly valve that goes into the intake). Now put a rag under the TB and spray the carb cleaner on the butterfly valve as well as the inside of the TB. Push the butterfly valve open and spray the whole area. Now take the toothbrush and scrub all over and then spray out the TB again. Wipe the inside out as much as you can with another rag and make sure there's no black stuff in the area. Reconnect the intake and start the car. Don't freak when it doesn't fire right away. Keep on the starter a little bit (Engines tend not to like to burn carb cleaner but it WILL start eventually). That MAY help you little problem.

Thanks for all the advice, this site kicks ass, all u guys really know ur stuff.

I just had midas clean all my fuel injectors and its running a hundred times better, but my mechanic told me one of my spark plugs are shot and thats why its hesitating and studdering and also why my gas milage blows. so he told me to get 9mm spark wires and iridium plugs. if u guys know any good performance websites for my car it would be very much appreciated. u would think that gs-t aftermarket parts would be a dime a dozen but it seems like all sites have non turbo motor only stamped on there parts lol. but thanks again ill let u know how the plug and wires work out.
