Any help on narrowing down where to start on this problem greatly appreciated. The problem is on my wife's car and she is due to give birth in less than a week. This condition makes driving her and my other child around a bit nerve racking.

Hey Schmyggy check the ignition system: spark plugs, high tension leads and distributor. Good luck with the new baby.
