OK, I had to come here and clear up this stupid thing i heard.

I was at the Local races (racelegal.com) and was talking to some guy who thought he new all there was to know about DSMs.

I told him that I really wanted to get a FMIC but I couldn't afford the whole kit (pipping, intercooler, etc)

He said smuggly that because I have already upgraded my piping to GReddy hard piping that all I needed to do is buy a GReddy FMIC and switch the piping around and it'd fit perfectly.

Now, I don't believe this guy, but I needed to hear doubt from others (or maybe he's right, though i don't think so)

Thanks.

Also, Does anyone know of any cheaper meathods of getting a FMIC for my DSM. GReddy and Big companys charge around 1,000 for their kits. anybody know of a cheaper company? thanks!

No, a greddy fmic wont work with greddy smic pipes.
Slow boy racing sells a nice kit for 850 with any bov flange that you want. All it lacks is the big company name. I am sure you could hit e-bay and get a used kit or a homemade kit for cheap but with those you dont really get what you pay for. For example my buddy got one for his gst for 400 bucks. The intercooler was nice but it came with a bunch of hose clamps, 2 silicone rubber boots, and 2 pieces of pipe that were no where never revelant to his car.

You can get an evo vlll fmic w/ some custom pipes for only a few hundered bucks. They can handle somewhere between 350-450 hp.

well you can find a EVO FM anywhere really. The hard part would be finding the custom piping. Gotta go somewhere or make it yourself...

The only problem with that is the elbo's are mandren bent, they have ripples in them, so when air is forced through them they make the air turblent causing the air to get hotter... My friend is an engineer and desgined an blow through setup on his s/c ls1 and when I was helping him he went through the whole thing. Also for peek performance for your f/i set up the piping should all be one size and match the compressor housing outlet not the size of your throttle body.
