burnmyeyes -> radio install problem (5/16/2006 12:59:51 PM)

I think I have a short somewhere...I was trying to put my system in my 98 gst, and I noticed that the fuse for the lights on the rear view mirror was missing. I put the correct fuse in and it blew immediatley. The fuse for the radio was missing too, so I put a fuse in there and the reading lights came on but were dim and inconsistant. What could be the problem? Also, the radio antenna jack is broken...I can live without radio so I dont care, but will a aftermarket cd player work without it? If not, where can I get one and how much are they?

you could also try putting in an antenna that is wireless

Dusty Eclipse -> RE: radio install problem (7/16/2007 8:15:53 PM)

There is no wireless antenna, those are signal "enhancers" (in essence, repeaters) you would still need an antenna hooked up.

its not exactly wireless. it is an antenna that they Call "Wireless" it mounts inside of the care on the windsheild and it plugs right in the head unit. i have one on my car. i got it at circut city. it cost about $55.00

just don't hook up the wires for the dimmer on the aftermarket radio and your set (usually an orange and an orange w/ white tracer)

As for the short there are two solutions.

You can repair that yourself or by some one who understand elecrical fault finding, or, create a new power supply from the key and fuse it inline. however be aware that there may be more faults in your cars wiring
