dksnj -> wobbly rear wheel (5/24/2006 3:38:39 PM)

Hi,

I was driving my '97 montero sport home from work yesterday (Tuesday) and the passenger in the car behind me came to my window at a red light and said my rear driver's side tire was really wobbling bad.

I had just picked up my car on Saturday from the mechanic who works on my truck. He had replaced my rear wheel bearings and did some other work on rear of the truck.

I had my in-laws follow me back to the mechanic. They also stated it was wobbling bad.

The guy took the tire off and put it back on. He said sometimes if the lugs aren't torqued correctly with wheel flush against hub/flange it can cause wobbling.

My in-laws followed me home and said everything looked fine. It wasn't wobbling.

Of course, now I'm paranoid. This morning on the way to work it drove very smoothly. However, I felt like everyone was keeping their distance behind me. Again, probably just paranoid.

So, my question is - anyone ever have anything like this happen to them? I am going to have someone look at it before I leave work this afternoon to see if it is okay.

you need to get a better mechanic. also, you need to have someone look at the your wheels (rims) to see if the holes are wobbled out, especialy if you have aluminum wheels

Yeah I would double check if your mechanic really "replaced" the wheel bearings. Another thing to check for is see if the rim is bent.
