I know I've already complained about my dashboard before, but here I go...I have an 01 Eclipse, and the dashboard is all cracked up to heck now...I hear a lot of people are having this problem with the 3Gs. I'm gonna replace the dash, but I don't have any diagrams for it...does anyone have a link to dash removal for a 00-05 Eclipse. I bought one of those stupid haynes/chilton manuals, but it only has diagrams for the 2G dash. Also, if anyone has wrecked thier eclipse, and has a nice dash to sell, or know someone with one, lemme know.

Anyone know about any dash recalls for the 3G?

That sucks...I've owned cars that are ancient compared to this one, and thier dashes are still on one piece.

Like I say every time this complaint comes up, almost ALL 3G eclipse get a cracked dash board I was lucky to have 2 of them with no cracks but most are not that lucky

There will never be a recall on a dashboard unless they start interfering with airbag operation. Even then it usually takes a few deaths and an act of congress to have a recall happen. And I doubt the dash will hit a TSB ever...

Hopefully I don't become a martyr for the 3G dashboard cause. Anyone know of a place that sells quality aftermarket dashes?

i got this problem too, you can usually prevent it by not doing any burnouts, supposedly the engine mounts are weak in the 3g and you get a lot of wheel hop and thats what cracks it

I wish the were the circumstances under which my dash cracked...I hadnt been overworkigy car or anything. I think what it boils down to is that Mitsu made a craptastic dash for 5 years and don't care to do anything about it. Maybe I'll try stiffening the chassis a bit to preven my new dash from doing the same thing.

How would you guys feel about a hard plastic overlay for your dash. They are made of ABS high heat resistent plastic and are vacum formed from the original dash. They would lay over top of the original dash and would only need to apply some adhesive on the overaly. No unscrewwing or removing the original dash. If interested you can see some examples at www.coverlaymfg.com. Let me kn ow what you think
